Dan Houston of EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants (formerly the McCart Group) is an accomplished insurance professional who is comfortable with assessing and managing technology-related threats.
Back in 1981, while Director, Risk Management & Insurance – Worldwide for NCR Corporation, Dan worked together with Shand-Morahan/Evanston Insurance Company to manuscript an “Unauthorized Access” policy. At that time, NCR manufactured banking systems, ATM’s, and had data processing centers servicing third parties. NCR had just introduced a personal computer into the marketplace. Realizing the value of these products, NCR sought an insurance solution to mitigate the substantial risks that they presented. So, long before the Internet was a household word, Dan was solving digital security issues.
He has also been involved with the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) for many years and in the early 1980s was instrumental in creating the first computer-based training program for RIMS. Dan also started a learning university at The McCart Group for risk managers, insurance agents and others.
In 2013, RIMS awarded Dan the prestigious Harry and Dorothy Goodell Award by unanimous vote, in recognition of outstanding achievement in risk management and for promotion and support of RIMS.
Dan has been a director of risk management for Fortune 500 companies, and has authored over 500 articles, texts, and educational courses.
We at INSUREtrust are proud to work alongside agents like Dan to provide superior risk management services. Congratulations on a remarkable career, Dan!
